Lecture 2- Lesson 1: Anxiety Disorders Discussion Questions

Lecture 2 covers anxiety disorders which include panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. You will be required to answer four discussion questions total. Each question is worth 10 points (40). Once again remember to answer the questions using information and/or examples from your textbook and at least one outside source. Make sure to cite using APA format.

  1. Define anxiety disorders and explain how these conditions differ from normal feelings of stress, tension, or uneasiness. Give examples
  2. How do phobias differ from fears we all experience?
  3. What is the difference between normal and abnormal obsessions?
  4. How has the learning and biological perspectives contributed to our understanding of the development of anxiety disorders?

    Lecture 1- Intro to Abnormal Psych Discussion Questions

    Lecture 1 has three discussion questions worth 10 points each. Students DO NOT forget to answer the questions using information and/or examples from your textbook and at least one outside source. Make sure to cite using APA format. You must comment to give a response.

    1. What kinds of clues suggest that a person may have a mental disorder?
    2. What is the difference between normal and abnormal behavior?
    3. According to Jerome Wakefield, a condition should be considered a mental disorder if, and only if, it meets two criteria. Do you think there are any other circumstances besides the two that should be considered for a condition to be a mental disorder?
